International Performing Arts for Youth
So happy to be returning to where it all started. In 2013, while still under the auspices of McCarter Theatre, we were chosen to present a 10-minute version of Sunjata Kamalenya in Austin, Texas. This magical ten minutes became the basis for our company, as it is there that we met our agent, Robin Klinger, and slowly began touring nationally to theater companies who saw us at IPAY 2013. Now three and a half incredibly busy years later we are now proud to announce that we will be returning to IPAY in 2017, but this time we are proud to announce that we have been selected from a pool of more than a hundred applicants from around the world to present a full performance showcase. The play we'll be performing is Journey to Oz, our co-production with Children's Theatre of Charlotte.
Journey to Oz by Christopher Parks
Fresh from our wildly lauded production at Children's Theatre of Charlotte, Experiential Theater Company will be touring the United States starting in November or 2016. We are currently scheduled to perform in Atlanta, North Florida, Ohio, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and New York. Details about exact dates and times will be posted as they are worked out, but we are ecstatic to start. Adelita y su Caballo: A Cinderella Rodeo
by Christopher Parks
directed by Kassie Missiewicz
Joining our friends from Trike Theatre down in Arkansas, Christopher Parks and Trike Artistic Director Kassie Misiewicz are teaming up to create a bilingual experiential Cinderella story about a little girl and her farm horse who want to ride in the rodeo. Children will celebrate Mexican culture and the spirit of courage as Adelita stands up for herself and other children like her whose voices deserve to be heard. In Mexico, the name Adelita is synonymous with bravery and feminine equality, two qualities our hero will teach her family and friends about before the play is over.
